An Indigenous Youth Clean Energy and Career Training Program
Generation Power is an Indigenous youth clean energy and career training program. Developed by and for Indigenous youth, Generation Power engages a holistic, strength-based approach positioning Indigenous leadership as essential to advancing a more sustainable and equitable energy future.
*CLEAN ENERGY TRAINING WILL NOT BE OFFERED FOR THE 2023/2024 COHORT.* Youth will have access to online readings and monthly webinars that include conversations with industry-leading experts, Indigenous leaders and exploratory modules to improve energy literacy and explore the wide range of careers available in the clean energy economy. Employers will have access to employer equity training where they learn about their role in reconciliation, and how their organization can attract and retain Indigenous talent.
EMPLOYER SUPPORTS
Online workplace equity training for employer participants. Employers develop the capacity to lead and contribute to more equitable and culturally aware workplaces.
MENTORSHIP
Indigenous youth participants engage with mentors from the ICE network throughout the program.
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Indigenous youth participants are paired with employer participants to deepen their understanding of the energy sector through internships or work placements. For employers, this is an opportunity to host Indigenous youth talent.
CULTURE AND LEADERSHIP
Youth and employer participants are encouraged to view Indigenous traditional knowledge and culture as a valued asset in the clean energy transition. Generation Power is an opportunity to participate in cultural learning, networking, and shared learning.
